Orwell #1: Animal Farm

As I re-read Animal Farm recently, what struck me most was a deep sense of sadness that the masses of people, sometimes including myself, are so easily led by the propaganda of capitalism, and financial & political elites. Whether right wing, centrist or left wing, elites everywhere around the world monopolise the means of media and literary production to maintain their positions of power and privilege, at the expense of people and planet. And some people, like the poor dimmest-witted animals of Animal Farm, will never even know they have been abused and swindled.
