Genderwild

We are genderwild. Follow our journey of Nature-based gender liberation in genderwild blog posts on Centre of the Web.

Genderwildness is a place from where we can be free to be as ‘masculine’, ‘feminine’ or ‘non-binary’ as we want, according to our different definitions of these adjectives and inspired by the biodiversity around us. As long as our identifications do not oppress.

Patriarchy oppresses everyone without exception. However, the raw aggression of fighting stags or the self-defense of a mother protecting her young is no more toxic masculinity than is a school of dolphins co-operating to hunt fish.

‘Masculine’, ‘feminine’, ‘toxic masculinity’ etc are socially constructed, but they may be useful concepts in context. In human(e) society, ‘toxic masculinity’ is a problem in both men and women, perpetuating this patriarchy that is destroying and destorying Earth.

We identify as genderwild, but within that wildness we may also identify as men, women, queer, trans, or something else. Our identifications may be ‘only’ literary but they may be something deeper. Ultimately, perhaps that is not really the business of any particular human. It is between us, our writing and the febrile Cosmos that surrounds us.

In sharing our journeys of self-exploration and self-expression, we may help some Others of you reconceptualise yourselves and your societies in liberating and constructive ways.
