WE WANT YOUR WRITING NOW!
한국 친구들에게 인사드립니다!
Centre of the Web (COTW) is partnering with Versy Talks for a relaunch and debate about the publishing industry, held online from 21st to 31st of May. You can take part for free. This debate is now live!
COTW is OPEN for creative writing submissions, especially diaries and flash fiction from both new and experienced adult writers in English, as well as English translations of pieces written (including previously published) in other languages. There is no deadline. We want lived experiences and diverse ideas from around the globe, in response to this challenging and unprecedented time in human history.
Read the guidelines for writers below, and send your writing as a Word document, Google link or pdf to epictomorrows@gmail.com
Your piece, if accepted, will be published on this site before, during, or in the days and weeks after, the relaunch (depending on when you submit), giving you maximum visibility. Please note that COTW is not currently a paying market. However, we intend to grow to the point where are popular enough that we can earn income with which to pay our authors. The best way you can help us grow is to submit valuable written content and tell your writer and diarist friends about us!

GUIDELINES FOR WRITERS
- Original written pieces must be between 100 and 1000 words. Republished pieces can be of any length. Please make sure you have permission to republish, if appropriate. Please submit your text as a pdf file or Google link, or in the body of your email. 한국 친구들에게 텍스트를 pdf나 Google 형식으로 보내거나 .hwp 형식이 아닌 이메일 본문으로 보낼 수 있습니까?
- We invite flash fiction submissions (fiction of under 1000 words: see this example) especially in the speculative and soft science fiction genres, with feminist or ecological themes.
- We also strongly invite diary pieces, written or translated into English, from around the world, giving insights into the daily lives of diverse human beings, especially (but not necessarily) those living in difficult conditions or going through interesting times.
- Other types of creative writing are also encouraged, but please note: we are not accepting poetry at this time. Short essays, articles, blog-style posts, journalistic pieces and arts reviews will also be considered. For more ideas, please browse the different post categories by navigating from the WRITING tab in the menu at the top of this page.
- We will also accept extracts or abstracts of Phd, masters & bachelors theses / dissertations, depending on the subject, as we would like to promote understanding and cultural-academic exchange between students from around the world, and give all students the chance to publish on an international English platform. Business-themed theses / dissertations will not be published, unless highly unusual, as we do not wish to promote capitalism in general. Interdisciplinary thinking is highly encouraged. When publishing in this area, we would print an extract and link to the full version of the thesis / dissertation as an online Google document.
- All writing must broadly align with the mission of COTW, which is described in the section below titled The Mission of Centre of the Web.
- This is not a paying market, but this is an opportunity for your writing to have big exposure during the sponsored online debate with Versy Talks.
- The COTW editors will offer you some free editing advice. You may be expected to edit your piece a few times before we decide on the perfect version together.
- The earlier you send your first draft, the better. First drafts sent before the 21st May will be prioritized, but you can send your draft at any time.
- If we accept your piece, or accept your piece subject to revision, well done! If we do not accept your piece at this time, please do not be offended. We cannot print everything that is sent to us, but we encourage you to keep writing. We ourselves have been rejected by literary magazines before now, so we know what it feels like. However, a small amount of free advice will be given even to the writers that we reject on this occasion.
- If we accept your piece of writing, we expect you to help us out by telling your friends and contacts about Centre of the Web, and encouraging them to submit some writing, if appropriate.
The Vision of Centre of the Web
The vision of Centre of the Web is the post-corporate revitalization and reclamation of human culture, even though Collapse may be unfolding around us. Every person on the planet should have equal opportunity to publish their experiences and to create literature, inspired by this momentuous and EPIC period of human history, including the good and the bad.
The Mission of Centre of the Web
- To spin a literary movement of movements; to support new writers and seek out written content from diverse groups and individuals from all over the world, to counteract bias in the global publishing industry and to counteract misinformation and disinformation (poor sense-making) online. Beginning in English but eventually expanding to other languages. With a special focus on documenting the Collapse and potential transformation of modern civilization, through the recording of individual experiences from every country of the world.
- To specifically seek out and facilitate translations into English of previously published work in other languages, to give untranslated well-known writers from other countries, as well as lesser-known writers, the opportunity to have their works read by the English-speaking world, bypassing the slow / exclusive translation publishing industry. This also applies to works published at any time during the 20th or 21st centuries that have so far not been publicly translated into English, even if the original authors are no longer alive, (depending on the legal regulations in place in various countries).
- To attract notable and critically acclaimed writers to donate pieces of writing to COTW, to help amplify marginalised / new writers and increase the social impact of COTW.
- To spin webs of innovative and sometimes subversive literary content, to draw in diverse web traffic, representing a variety of artistic, social & political movements globally, as well as diverse brilliant individuals, to serve the emergent ecology-based revitalization & reclamation of human society & civilization in response to unfolding global Collapse. With all this in mind, to platform all kinds of unusual and brilliant bloggers and writers who already have a presence online, to strengthen the blogger-writer online ecosystem.
- Building on the above, to help facilitate an unprecedented transformative online network of websites, backlinks, e-short-cuts, directories and other online pathways, resources and nodes of liberation, initially arts based but then expanding. Integrating Indigenous perspectives from around the world with a modern perspective that goes beyond historical political ideologies, but utilizes the most humane and efficient elements from all systems and individual / communal experiences, represented in literary and online form.
- To utilise AI in strategic and appropriate ways to support all of the above, without undermining human creativity (e.g. AI-generated content will not be accepted, but AI will regularly be used in translation).
